In case you haven’t heard of Influenster before,it’s a pretty cool program that you can sign up for and it’s FREE! Then you can recieve boxes of products to test out and review (you don’t have to have a blog though– as long as you are on social media you can sign up!). I love trying new stuff, so I signed up a few months ago and have recieved two boxes so far.
The Moda VoxBox was my second box. As you can see from the above picture, you get a variety of products. Included in this box was the following:
Rimmel London Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner
Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer
Resource Natural Spring Water
Hair Food Moisture Hair Mask
Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa Hot Chocolate Mix
Although it was fun to try all of the products, there were 2 products that I really liked and probably will purchase myself.
The first product I really liked was the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner. It is clear, so you can wear it with any lip color or lip gloss. I am not one that wears a lot of lipstick, but I had been wanting a clear lip liner just to help my glosses last longer. The Rimmel lip liner works great for that!
The other product that I’ve been VERY impressed with is the Hair Food Moisture Mask. It smells amazing and makes your hair so soft and smooth! I get a lot of frizzy fly-aways (especially in the winter), and the moisture mask has really helped with that problem. I’ve been using it at least once a week since I received this box several weeks ago.
As for the other products, it’s not that any of them were terrible or I hated them. But they weren’t anything special or different from what I already had and I only wanted to share the items I really loved.
***I received these products free from Influenster to try out and review. All opinions are my own.
If you know me or have been reading this blog for any length of time, you have probably already picked up on the fact that I love makeup. I don’t feel put together unless I have at least foundation and mascara on. But I also get easily bored with products so once I use one up, I tend to try something different.
I was running low on my bareMinerals bareSkin foundation and even though I really liked it, I had noticed over the last month or so that it was wearing off in patches. I couldn’t figure out why it was doing that, so I asked a friend who is a professional makeup artist about it. She suggested that I try a foundation that was geared towards dry skin. I was floored because I’ve never considered myself to have dry skin (at least on my face). Even at nearly 28 years old, I still breakout fairly regularly. But she said to give the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation a try.
So I went and picked up a sample. I didn’t want to invest all that money (it’s $45) until I knew for sure if I liked it. Side Note: Did you know that if you go to Sephora and ask for a sample to try, they will give you one?! I had no idea until my friend told me! And I have to say, it’s totally worth the price! I was worried it might look too shiny on my face since it’s the dry skin formula, but it doesn’t at all! It feels light yet provides a really good coverage.
While I was at Sephora talking to one of the associates, I asked her if she had any recommendations for primer. I’ve been using the Benefit 16 Hour Primer, which is a good one, but I was ready to try something new. Are you sensing a pattern here?!? She recommended a couple, including Philosophy’s The Present: Clear Makeup. I didn’t even know Philosophy had a primer and since I use their skincare line, I thought I’d give it a try! The girl made me a sample of it to take home as well. After using it for a couple of days, I knew I was going to have purchase it. It feels so good and compliments the NARS foundation very well! I don’t apply my foundation without putting this on
Lastly, I have been using the Smashbox Jet Set eyeliner for about 6 weeks now, and I’m telling you what, I will never be able to go back to pencil liners ever again. I was so nervous about using an eyeliner brush (I use this one) and didn’t think I would be able to get the line straight. BUT I was blown away by how easy this was to apply, and it stays on ALL day! I’ve even managed to pull off a cat eye using it!
Have you used any of the products I mentioned? What’s your favorite item in your makeup bag?
