This weekend is the NC Azalea Festival which takes place right here in Wilmington. There will be everything from concerts to street fairs to garden tours taking place over this week.
One of my favorite parts about the festival is seeing all of the Azalea Belles in their mid-1800s gowns. I was a Belle myself during my junior year of high school. It was SO much fun to get to wear those dresses– bloomers, parasol, and all! I felt like I had stepped straight out of “Gone with the Wind.”
So, if you are going to the festival or just feeling springy, I pulled together some azalea-inspired items to get you ready.
Well, we’re 5 days into Spring, and though it teased us with some warmer weather over the weekend, it has turned cold once again.
Since I can’t quite put the sweaters away, I’m going to enjoy them for these last couple of weeks. In a matter of months, I’ll probably be complaining about the heat and humidity that comes with the summers in the South.
I picked up the sweater at LOFT a few weeks ago and I really love it! Are you seeing a theme here??? They really should pay me for the free advertisement! Anyway, I’ve been steering towards gray and navy lately, so some color was desperately needed in my wardrobe. Also, it’s lightweight, so even if it warms up some, I can still wear it for at least another month or so.
I paired it with some gray cords that I feel could be easily transitioned from work to a night out. Change some of the accessories and trade flats for some wedges and you are ready to hit the town!
One thing you’ll notice is that a lot of the items I show might be out of stock or on sale. That’s because I normally don’t buy things until they are on sale, which might make me a little behind on the current styles, but I hope it gives you inspiration even if you can’t find the exact item. I hope y’all don’t mind…
